About KCN
From pioneer to specialist in polyurea

On this page, you can read more about our history, our mission and vision, our outlook on the future, and the modern facilities we work with every day. Together, they show what KCN stands for: quality, knowledge, and a drive to continuously improve.

The history of Kunststof Coatings Nederland

At Kunststof Coatings Nederland, craftsmanship, innovation, and reliability are at the core of what we do. With a down-to-earth and practical approach, we have developed over the past 15 years from pioneers in polyurea applications to specialists with broad experience across various sectors.

For his final marketing exam at the IVA (in Driebergen), Alexander Stolk conducted market research in 1993 into 2K sprayed plastic coating systems based on polyurethane, with the aim of applying them as wear-resistant and sound-dampening finishes for truck loading floors and tailgates.

KVS

After graduating in 1994, he decided to become a dealer for KVS (Korrossions, Verschleiss und Schutzmaterialien GmbH), from Waldkraiburg (DE), who had already successfully applied the product Havoplast in the bodies of companies such as SPAR, Frischdienst Zentrale, and EDEKA.

These companies transported many roll containers daily, which, due to continuous movement during transport, caused oval-shaped wear on the polyester or wooden floors. In addition, the roll containers caused a lot of noise nuisance during loading and unloading.

By applying a 5 mm thick sprayed layer of Havoplast, floor wear was actively counteracted and the rolling noise was reduced by approximately 25 dB(A).

Another successful application of Havoplast was spraying the inside of aluminum tippers and container bins, which were mainly used to transport sand and gravel.

This drastically reduced wear, thereby extending the service life of the bin and thus the lifespan of the vehicle.

Bayer

In the period from 1994 to 1996, as a pioneer in the field of heated, sprayed two-component reaction coatings based on polyurethane, we had access to mobile equipment that was unique for that time.

In collaboration with Bayer Netherlands, we were able to apply the product Baytec in various projects, such as the protection of concrete structures in, among others, TGV railway bridge transitions.

Rhino Linings

Ultimately, there was more affinity with transport and automotive, and Alexander met the company Rhino Linings at the IAA in Hannover and decided to become a dealer for them in 1998.

This American company had a cold-sprayed, low-pressure 2K polyurethane system that was professionally used as protection for the cargo areas of pick-ups and vans.

Until 2002, Alexander was very active in marketing these products, experimenting with them, and creating other innovative applications.

Plastic Coatings Netherlands

The demand for professional vehicle protection, as well as many other applications, grew, and in 2001 Kunststof Coatings Nederland BV (KCN) was officially established.

Turbo Liner

In the meantime, the cold low-pressure system proved to be outdated, and KCN was confronted with the phenomenon of polyurea.

In 2003, KCN set up its own import from the USA of Turbo Liner products, high-pressure ‘hotspray’ plastic coatings based on polyurea and polyurethane.

KCN now has over 20 years of experience in processing and developing sprayed plastic coating systems and has more than 1200 m2 of business space equipped with special spray booths, a grit blasting cabin, and workshops. Today, KCN operates as an applicator, training center, developer, and supplier of sprayed plastic coatings, spray equipment, and related products on the European market.

Mission / Vision

We all benefit: value for customer & society

Our mission is clear: to provide sustainable protection with high-quality coatings, applied and delivered in a socially responsible manner.

In the coming years, the demand for sustainable plastic coating systems will only increase, partly due to the fact that there is an economic downturn. Companies will invest more and more in sustainable products, and the government will increasingly encourage this as well.

KCN aims to deliver high-quality products and provide services in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible way, thereby adding value both to customers and to the company itself.

Future

Grow through innovation and partnership

KCN sees a strong development in the field of sustainable polyurea plastic coating systems, which provide permanent protection against moisture, weather influences, wear, erosion, and corrosion in virtually all different sectors of the business world. The supply of the various systems and the associated application equipment therefore require increasing attention.

By opening and creating new markets, training people in this innovative technique, appointing dealers, and seeking end users, both nationally and internationally, the foundation of the company has been significantly strengthened over the past 15 years, and this will only continue to grow.

Coating

Coating

KCN has two spacious coating booths, equipped with modern 2K high-pressure spray machines, where vehicles and objects up to 15 meters in length can be treated. The booths meet all environmental requirements and standards in the field of industrial coating.

PU lakken

PU Lacquers

In addition to our coating booths, we also have a separate spray booth for processing professional PU lacquers in a dust-free environment. Here, a wide variety of furniture pieces, artworks, advertising objects, etc. are provided with a colorfast topcoat on a daily basis.

With the help of an advanced color mixing machine, KCN is able to process virtually any color.

Straalcabine

Blast cabinet

As KCN also has a spacious blasting cabin of 15 x 5 meters, many objects and components are thoroughly blasted in-house as preparation for the preservation of metal substrates (ferrous and non-ferrous).

Proper pre-treatment is essential for correct adhesion and forms the basis for perfect performance and durability of the coating.

Flexibiliteit

Flexibility

KCN has extensive experience in on-site spraying applications in construction and industry, and is equipped with mobile spraying equipment, compressors, tools, and a team of experienced employees. This enables KCN to take on challenges and to advise, assist, and guide (future) processors with their projects.
